Week 1
Sleeping was hard this week-we woke up with every grunt, gasp, and noise that she made. And when Allison WAS actually sleeping well, it seemed like a nurse came in to check on us, administer meds, etc. But don't get me wrong, the nurses were AMAZING for the most part and I had a fabulous experience at the hospital. The low point was after a few days when A lost almost a pound down to 7 pounds 1 ounce and I had to supplement with formula. I was so sleep deprived and hormonal and the nurse (my least favorite) came in to tell me she had lost too much weight, and I just started crying. My milk took several days to come in, and I felt like I had been starving my sweet girl! She kept telling me not to cry, and I logically knew things would be fine, but it was still upsetting.
My recovery wasn't bad at all, but I had a small infection near the incision, so they wanted to keep me there on antibiotics before I was released. They couldn't give me most options since I was breast feeding, and the others I was allergic to, so they had to do an IV and give me a new one. The IV was AWFUL and the worst part of my whole visit-I felt so bad for the girl trying to get it in...it just wasn't happening and she was digging around forever in there. After several horrible tries, she called in another nurse. I left that sucker in my hand just in case because I was NOT going through that again!
